This week was Pointillism and Impressionism inspired by George Seurat! We started off the week by using Q-Tips to paint a picture only by using dots. On Tuesday we cut paper in the shape of lily pads and glued tissue paper petals to look like flowers. On Wednesday we all worked together to paint a giant wall mural. The kids cooperated with each other and shared the paints and brushes to get the mural finished. Then on Thursday we made homemade dough and molded it in the shape of flowers. Then we painted them and mounted them on cardboard squares. On Friday we finished off the week by making designs on a piece of paper using liquid colored dyes. We wet the paper with water so that the dyes would bleed and spread the color around. Because I was working with the little kids, they needed more help than the big kids. So I had to help them with things like cutting the tissue paper petals, painting the mural, and molding the flower. This week was meaningful to the campers because they got to learn about different techniques and paintings created by different artists, who all used pointillism in their artwork.
