Here at Markeim, campers tackled the glorious Age of the Renaissance and explored painters from Michaelangelo to DaVinci. They learned how to paint the roof of a chapel, mimic the Mona Lisa, and assemble their very own royal headpiece. Here, our youngest campers line up to show off their new accessory. The little kids are camp is for children the ages of 3-5. Miss Jennifer Buerkli runs the little kid art camp and I am the summer intern that helps her. Typically, the little kids art camp works on projects that branch off of what the older kids are working on. Such as Today when the older kids were making birds with wire inside the cups, the little kids just used the cups to ensure that they would have fun and complete the project.
Since the little kids work on separate projects most of the time, the group is very friendly towards each other. I think the kids really connect with their projects and make them unique because , even if they use the same colors to decorate the project, they would use different materials to build it. Such as today when they worked on their birds, they all used blue, green, and yellow but one of the kids used a bottle instead of a cup, which added to the variety in bird shape already set on the table. Also since there are two teachers working the little kids art camp, the kids have an easier time asking and having their questions be answered because their are smaller tables. My name is Ruth Ann May and I am the summer AM Little Kids Art Camp intern. I am going to be a sophomore in high school at Haddonfield high school and I enjoy marching band and working with different art projects. This is a video of the wonderful things that the kids did in week 1. The Markeim arts centre is so proud of these artistic magicians.
