I noticed throughout the morning that the children really connected with this project in that they displayed a tremendous amount of enthusiasm, concentration, and meticulousness when they built the birds' bodies, wings, heads, and tails. Many of the kids even sacrificed their recess to make progress on their sculptures! I really got a lot of value out of observing the kids picking out the assorted materials and finding a way to make use of them. Completing projects like these really exercise a child's ability and enhance a child's ability to be resourceful.
My name is Rebecca, I'm 17 years-old, and I'm an A.M. Art Camp intern here at Markeim this summer. I'm going to be a senior at Moorestown High School and am excited to complete my final year! My central focus of art is pottery; I've been doing ceramics since I was 10 years-old. I also very much enjoy working with, teaching, understanding, and building relationships with children. Nothing makes me happier than knowing that I can make an impact on a child's life, especially through a wonderful realm such as art. I hope to work with children when I'm older.
